Our Midwives provide safe, holistic, evidence-based newborn care for the first 4-6 weeks of life
Our Newborn Care includes:
Comprehensive newborn exam on the day of birth
The option to have your Midwife administer vitamin K and/or eye ointment for your baby immediately after birth if you choose
Newborn Metabolic Screenings at 2-3 days of life and 2-3 weeks of life. Newborn Metabolic Screenings (NBS) test for rare, hidden genetic, and metabolic disorders that can cause serious problems if not diagnosed and treated early
Congenital Heart Defect Screening (CCHD) performed at the first Newborn Care visit. This is a non-invasive screening that uses a pulse oximeter on the hand and foot and tests for life-threatening heart defects in newborns
Assessments and evaluation of healthy growth rates, weight checks, monitoring for signs of jaundice, feeding support, and pediatric referrals once Newborn Care with our Midwives is complete
